Vonage | Sending Faxes Through Email
Vonage customers paying for fax services can both receive and SEND
faxes through nothing more than their email client which is usually Outlook. This
KA explains how to send faxes.
How it Works:
o
The Vonage fax service has a
list of email addresses 'authorized'* to send faxes
o
The sender scans the
documents to be faxed and has the scans emailed to his inbox as a PDF
attachment (normal scanning, nothing special here)
o
The sender initiates
forwarding the email with the attachment
o
The 'From'*
address of the forwarded email must be 'authorized'* to send faxes.
o
The 'To'
address is formatted as 1FaxNumber@fax.vonagebusiness.com
o
for example, 16091234567@fax.vonagebusiness.com
o
The email itself generally
acts as a cover sheet, but if desired the body of the email could be the fax
itself.
o
Attachments are sent as pages
2+ of the received fax

*About
'Authorized' 'From' email addresses:
At many MainFrameIT customers a single-shared or departmental-shared
email address is created that staff will use for sending faxes. An example of
this could be when sending faxes, staff would set the 'From'
address of their email client to 'fax@CompanyDomainName.com'.
What the 'From' email address is will vary between customers. To
change your 'From' address in Microsoft Outlook please use the
instructions in this KA - Sending
Email From an Alternate Email Address
