Vonage | Mobile App for Smartphones & Tablets
Imagine
being able to convert the Vonage phone on your desk to an app on your
smartphone, and any calls to/from your SmartPhone make
it seem to outsiders as if you're in the office. You can also see and dial
internal extensions just like when you're in the office using the phone on your
desk!
You'll
also be able to check voice mail, view call logs, send text messages from your Vonage direct number
and more with the Vonage Business Mobile App (VBM) for Apple and Android
devices.

After the app is installed, you'll need to login with
your Vonage username/password. If you'd like to test your login credentials
outside of the app you can login to your account here:

Once in the app, to access Settings, tap your user
icon in the upper left, and then tap
Settings
and then Call Settings.

While VBM has many settings, and the default settings are
good for most, below are a few settings we wanted to draw your attention to.

o Mute All Devices (warning - impacts all phones for your user
account) o
Mute This Device |

Call Settings: Outgoing
Data Calls o Enabled by default - outgoing calls are made using
your Wi-Fi or mobile data connection (4G/LTE). Best
Practice - If you're working where
there is Wi-Fi or if your mobile data (4G/LTE) signal is strong, we recommend
leaving this setting ON. Vonage calls don't use a lot of bandwidth/data, so
unless you're on the phone A LOT, there is not an issue with leaving this
setting enabled. o When disabled, outgoing calls use your mobile
dial out through your cellular provider into Vonage first and then from
Vonage to your recipient. Best Practice - use this setting when in areas with
no Wi-Fi or poor mobile data service (like when in a 4G area as opposed to
LTE), of if you tend to make calls from the car a lot. It should also be
noted many users simply leave it disabled and there's nothing wrong with
that. Never
Miss a Call: o
Best Practice - Always use 'Send to Voicemail' (ring your Vonage
desk phone, then go to voicemail). For day-to-day use, because VBM acts as
another full desktop phone that 'follows' you everywhere. By using this
configuration there's normally not a need to forward calls to your cell
phone. If you don't want business calls ringing your SmartPhone,
per above choose "Mute This Device." |

Forwarding Calls |
Specific
to the last point above, one scenario where you'd want to forward calls is
when driving in rural areas. As by default, inbound calls always ring to VBM
through data connections (Wi-Fi or LTE), when in rural areas without data
service, you won't be able to receive calls. To get around this, simply
forward calls destined for your extension to your normal cell phone number. |
