Objective:

Microsoft's current user experience between a Teams' calendar as viewed in Teams vs. that same calendar when viewed in Outlook, is currently clunky. Understanding a few basic rules, however, and all will be well.

o   Use Outlook to:

o   Create plain/traditional meeting invites & calendar entries

o   Schedule Teams meetings with external parties

o   Use Teams...

o   Only for scheduling internal Teams meetings

 

 

 

 

Teams vs. Outlook - Understanding Meeting Creation:

 

o   What's a Teams Meeting?

o   A Teams meeting is a calendar event populated with Teams join links and dial-in information.

 

o   Events created in Outlook:

o   Will show in only Outlook!

o   This includes Teams meetings created in Outlook

 

o   Events created Teams:

o   Will always be Teams meetings.

o   Will appear in both Teams and Outlook.

o   Will invite everyone on the Team at once (this is cool).

 

o   Other Info:

o   Outlook supports Months views, Teams does not!

o   Outlook supports creating Teams meetings with external parties.

o   Creating Teams meetings in Teams works only for internal staff!
